The founders of Gen2 Medical have comprehensive experience and profound expertise in developing unique surgical instruments, medical devices, and implants. Gen2 Medical was formed in 2013 by John Redmond and a group of expert associates with years of experience in the development of medical devices. It all started back in 1989 when Mr. Redmond founded Redmond Neurotechnologies, a company focused on developing neurosurgical and spinal instruments in collaboration with some of the best surgeons in the world. After eight years of great success and far-reaching industry impact, Redmond Neurotechnologies was sold to the NeuroCare Group in 1997, which was later acquired by Integra Lifesciences and still distributes Redmond instruments today. Thought other companies have copied many of the unique ideas and devices originally developed by Mr. Redmond over the years, his distinctive creativity and special expertise can never be duplicated; he continues to revolutionize the industry today with innovative product lines like GEN2™, STERIBITE®, and INTELISURG.
Policies, procedures, and practices constantly change in the medical device industry, so the Gen2 Medical team prides itself on the unique ability to adapt and thrive in the ever-changing landscape of medical instrument design and production. Although many of Mr. Redmond’s instruments used to be manufactured in his facility in Lake Zurich, Illinois, to meet the ever-growing standards and expectations of his clients, there is no substitute for the high-quality production methods and capabilities only available in Germany. Many companies manufacture the majority of their instruments outside of Germany, then bring them back to Germany for final finishing to claim that they are German instruments; however, we consider quality deficiencies and half-truths simply unacceptable, so we have established close relationships with many of Germany’s best manufacturers to develop products that meet our highest standards in quality and workmanship.
And as always, the Gen2 Medical team is looking to work with surgeons who have product ideas that will improve operating procedures and surgeon satisfaction. While we are well-known for our experience in Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery, and Orthopedic Surgery, we are not limited to surgical instruments and are interested in implants and other medical devices as well. We have a unique program that helps surgeon inventors get their ideas to market and maintain a large stake in their product.
